Using Blog in the Classroom

Using a blog is something I would have never associated with education. However, after being introduced to blogs in EDU 315, I now believe that blogs can be very useful in the elementary school classroom. Using a classroom blog can be helpful to both parents, teachers, and students. As a teacher, we can post what is going on in our classroom, post important information, and also post helpful links for homework help. Blogs are helpful to parents because they will easily be able to find out what is going on in their child's classroom, stay in contact with the teacher and other parents, and overall become more involved with their child's education. Blogs can also be helpful to students because they will have a resource to go to outside of the classroom if they don't understand something or need help with homework. Also, if used properly, the class blog will help to build a stronger classroom community. I think blogging is a great idea and would love to implement a classroom blog in my own class someday! :)
